Answers
This report shows statistics for the question as a whole and for answers A through E, as well as for the number of students who omitted the question. Answer A is also answer T or True, and answer B is also answer F or False.
Point value
Marks per answer as assigned by the instructor through the answer key or weighted file. The value under “Question” shows the maximum number of marks for that question, equivalent to the marks for the answer or answers with the highest mark. Part marks assigned to other answers are shown under the corresponding letter.
Response number
The number of students who responded to the question, and the number who chose each response (under the corresponding letter) or did not answer the question (“Omitted”).
Response index
The response number as a fraction of the total number of students taking the test, or for multi-version tests, this version of the test.
Point biserial
The point-biserial correlation index for the whole question is a statistical measure of the extent to which answering the question correctly corresponds to doing well on the test; it has values from -1 to 1. A point-biserial value close to 1 for the question indicates that students who answered this question correctly did well on the test. A value of close to zero says that there is little or no correspondence between the question and the test. A negative value shows that students who did well on the test did not do well on this question.
The point-biserial value for each answer indicates how well students did on the test who chose this answer. It will usually be a negative value for the wrong answers.
P(diff)
The p value or difficulty index is the ratio of students answering correctly to the total number of students taking the test, or for multi-version tests, this version of the test.
