The New MPS
Simon Oakley

I often have clients who are surprised to learn that we build websites. Well, not only is that true, but we excel at it! In this issue of our newsletter, we shed some light on the latest technologies and best practices to follow when working on your next web project. We will also highlight some of our most recent award winning projects which might just spark your next great idea! When that happens, give us a call and we will help make it a reality!

Responsive Web Design

Sounds fancy...

That’s because it is fancy! A responsive web site is one that responds to the device that accesses it and delivers the appropriate output for that device. Rather than designing different sites for different-sized devices, this approach designs one site but specifies how it should appear on various devices. These devices could vary from mobile smart phones and tablets to high resolution desktop computers.

Check out the responsive web sites that we have built, in our portfolio section below!

Content Management Systems

Sounds complicated...

Actually it is the opposite! Content management systems (CMS) are here to make your life easier! Now someone with little to no working knowledge of web design can publish, edit and modify their site’s content. These systems support social media integration and dynamic content. They help build communities through site specific memberships and also help manage workflows in a collaborative environment.

This all sounds great! But now comes the hard part, deciding which CMS is right for you!

Award Winning Web-Design

The PRIX D’EXCELLENCE is the annual awards program of the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE), recognizing outstanding achievements in alumni affairs, public affairs, communications, marketing, development, advancement services, stewardship, student recruitment and overall institutional Advancement! We are thrilled to have won gold and silver awards for websites we created for our friends at Alumni Advancement!

Michelle Sharp

Art has always been Michelle's favourite subject. Over the years, Michelle has worked at several local design studios and newspapers. A few feelance jobs for McMaster University lead her to her current role in Media Production Services where she has worked for over 10 years. One of Michelle's favourite hobbies is photography and working for community newspapers provided the opportunity to have many of her photos published. She has won many photography contests including the Hamilton Regional Conservation Authorities contest which her daughter Leah also won!

Michelle has been very happy focusing her career close to her home in Dundas. She has been able to attend school and sporting events for her son Andrew (now in College) and daughter Leah (graduating grade 12 this year), never missing a moment of their lives.

For the past three years, Michelle has been posting a photo a day on Facebook, many of which were taken right here on campus! A selection of these photos will soon be featured in a card series available at the Campus Store.
